The Fender Telecaster, the 'other' guitar in Fender's stable, ... For me, if I could only own one Telecaster it would be the '69 Thinline Telecaster. It has the original 1950s pickup configuration with a semi hollow body and a nicer pickguard than the '72. And I think a Telecaster should have a Telecaster headstock!

Here's an example of what a real Telecaster body should look like. Look at the area just under the neck pickup and above the control plate. These "smuggler holes," "crop circles," "mickey mouse ears," and "dime and nickel storage holes" will give you a good indication of which factory made the body in question.

The Stratocaster and Telecaster generally have similar electronics. They each have a master volume control, but where the Tele only has one tone control, the Strat has dedicated tone knobs for the middle and bridge pickups. The switching, however, is another story. The Telecaster has always carried a three-way switch, but after guitarists found

Key Differences Between Fender Telecaster and Stratocaster. Tone: Telecasters are more tonally distinctive, while Strats have more options due to the 5-way pickup selector. Shape: Strats also have body contours that make them very comfortable to play, and most Teles have a 'boxier' body cut. Both have the standard Fender 25.5" scale and

4. Brighten up your neck pickup. Just like a traditional humbucker, the metal cover on a Telecaster neck pickup can suck a little treble from your tone. To unleash the full frequency potential of Tele neck pickups, just snip the cover's grounding connection. The downside is that you'll experience a bit of noise if you touch the cover, but

If I could only have on guitar, under 800 I would probably get a Fender Lead II and use the extra 200 for some tapped Quarter Pound and push pull pots for extra versatility. If modding is off the table than and a Gretsch Electromatic Jet. No pedals no deal. A lot of stuff I am into is heavy on the modulation, delay and reverb.

There is a use for a good tele in every style of music at some point. There are better metal guitars but metal is it's own beast and you'd want something purposed for it if you went that route. As far as being a good first electric guitar to pick up teles are the least fuss with controls to just get up and playing.

With these pickups, you'll have a 3-way selector switch on a Telecaster. This switches between the neck position, bridge, or uses both simultaneously. In addition to this, you'll have 1 master volume knob and 1 master tone knob. These affect both of the guitar's pickups. For the most part, this is about all you'll have with a Telecaster.

If you were only allowed to have and play only 1 mass production stock guitar for the rest of your life, what would you choose and why? I don't mean specific guitars like Eric clapton's blackie or SRV'a num 1. I mean would you choose: Gibson Les Paul standard. Fender American tele. Fender American strat. Others, etc.

The neck was moved to a few different bodies in the last 30 years. Around 1998, I was at Bill Chapin's shop, and found a swamp ash body. I bought it from him. For the last 5 years or so, the neck has been with the Chapin body, and it's probably the one I can live with for the rest of my life. It's light, about 6.5lbs, and sounds great.

Messages. 1,371. Jan 8, 2011. #14. At the moment I only have one guitar and its a Tele. There are times when I miss the Strat quack and the LP "girth" but if I had to choose, it would be a Tele for sure.

Jun 26, 2013. #19. I chose the "Ibanez, Jackson, or other Metal Guitar" category, but I'd like to elaborate: I don't play anything resembling what usually passes for Metal by today's standards, but if I had to choose ONE guitar for the Mars/Desert Island scenario, I'd take an Ibanez RG. Reasons being its versatility (I've played everything from

It's just a classic guitar sound that covers so many bases. I'm not sure there's a more versatile, utilitarian acoustic guitar out there, and if there is, it's something very similar in one way or another (J-45, D-28, 000-18). # 6. 01-19-2022, 02:44 PM. blews.

A strat has a very specific tone and definitely encourages the player to play differently. A tele is more versatile for other tones that are not strat sounds but you can still get the strat neck pickup sounds. If you are seeking for a strat tone the a strat. But if you need not-a-strat-tone, then tele ftw. Reply reply.
