I suppose it is an ingenious parallel drawn by Donna Tartt: the plot of the book intertwining so elegantly with its very form. However, there is a certain difficulty to that, I agree. This is how it felt to read The Goldfinch: All the antiques in the store are unique and exceptional monuments of history that are a delight to study.
