PAS 1 is too fast. This is a common complaint on most inexpensive hub motor ebikes and many ebike conversion kits. I agree with indiana-jo. Better controllers can be set to go slower. I had an ebikeling kit with a pretty LCD, but it would go 18 mph in PAS 1. One of my bikes is an inexpensive Ecotric 20" fat tire bike ($700) .

Got my 1st ebike a few weeks ago and as much as I like the bike, PAS 1 is just to fast. Even after all the tweaks to the display settings to weaken the power and sensitivity, pas1 is running at 11-12 mph and that's pedaling lightly in 7th gear. If I downshift to 6th gear or move up to pas2, I cant keep up with the speed by pedaling.

My ebike pushes that limit, and I do have motorcycle tires and a beefed up homebrew frame. Legally, in my state anything that can go above 30mph is a motorcycle and subject to motorcycle laws. Federal laws say 20 is plenty fast for an ebike. But they technically apply to manufacturers, and are not traffic laws. 4.

There's a difference sprinting on a road that is 95% perfectly groom and flat on a 5-10k customer built bike and hauling ass on a ebike with an altered Governor. Bikes are generally built to the tolerance of the expected cut off speed (and even them I feel like some skimp out for 28 mph offering).

That's what I think, generally 20mph is a good speed and yes, because I built mine from a normal bike, carrera fury, it was probably designed for that speed. When you go back to the idea of cycling without power, normal bike top speed would be maybe 15-20.

Technically, a 250w motor can give you 20 mph, 25 mph is really pushing it (unless you have a mid drive motor) Dont forget, Watts = amps x Volts. so 36v x 10amps would give you 360w of power which is enough for 20-22 mph. With this power, your 6 amps battery would die in 36 min tho giving you not a lot of range. 1.

Never again. DIY all the way and make damn sure you buy the best Battery you can. Make sure you understand the Batterys C rating etc. MTB Tires. Nope, If you go > 30 kp/H you want road tires (preferably e-bike certified) 36V. Never again, voltage drop is a bitch. Go 48V, heck go 52V. Saving on the Battery is the worst thing you can do on an e-Bike.
