Weird suggestion: Black and White 2. The city building mechanics are pretty rudimentary but I remember the aesthetic being quite Roman. Immortal Cities: children of the Nile edit: I know not Roman but It'd probably appeal. Also check out the open source implementation of cease 3 Julius and modded on top Augustus.

Thanks. A lot of the higher end buildings like the villas, bathhouse. Forum etc I think look pretty Roman, but when i used the same style across all the buildings (like the little low income dwellings) it all started to blend together. I might give it another go and look at some of the buildings, roads and other bits to make it feel more Roman.

I loved playing that game, and while it's old it's still a great city builder. There's also CivCity: Rome which I still play quite a bit, which might be easier to get into since it's nowhere near as old as C3. I think CC is probably more historically accurate. There's quite a bit of attention to detail and the housing evolves in a way that was

CivCity's a very enjoyable and itneresting game, so I'd go for it. It's about the game process and enjoying playing the game, after all. Grand Ages rome is less user-friendly. #2. Nothing I can think of, but the closest I know is Tropico 6, where you can go from colonial era, think 1800s, right up to the modern day. That's the biggest city-builder timespan I know, though. Universim is what you are looking for. I looked through the entire history of city building games and apparently, there really isn't a single game that

So kind of like Imperium Romanum but more modern and with more content. Ceasar 3 is the best. Unfortunately, I dont think theres been any good modern Rome city builders in a while now. Most are just mobile games. The ones I can think of are Grand Ages: Rome and the Caesar games, however they are around the same age as Imperium Romanum.

After the Impressions games (Ceasar, Pharoah, Zeus, Poseidon, Rise of the Middle Kingdom), I'd say the best ancient city builder is Grand Ages: Rome. If it just needs to be historical, the closest thing to matching Impressions game-play would be the Anno games, like Anno 1404 aka Dawn of Discovery. Reply reply.
