Makes it a challenge and fun to get them. In the first 3 the hardest achievement is just beating the game on insane which isn't even that bad, but 4 and 5 have some challenging ones! And some fun ones, like there's a gears 4 one that's beating the game without using the lancer or gnasher.

I swear it was a pain in the ass. Gears of War 1 is a hard fucking game. Ultimate Edition tones down the difficulty noticeably. Completing the Original on insane was a true achievement. Gears 1 by far. Gears 3 can be cheesed in Arcade mode if it comes down to it and it still counts for the Insane mode achievements. Plus all of them after the 1st game allow co-op partners to be on different difficulty settings. The Junker level in Gears 1 is simply the hardest fucking thing to appear in the franchise.

I found Gears 1 on Insane not all that bad, on a personal scale. Gears 2 was incredibly hard to do on my own to the point that I actually gave up and enlisted a friend to help.
