Sounds like you're popping too hard, this will help you control it. This exercise helps you find your optimal pop balance point. Learning this should help you keep your fingers on the board completely and adjust your height accordingly by carrying the momentum. Lots of people here have told me that this is what got the Ollie to click for them.
