Yeah I have, you just place the IED (not just drop, place), wind up the timer and then you can combine the timer. I think you are talking about CLAYMORE mine. To use it you need to find claymore explosive kit, after placing it TOWARDS enemy you will have detonator in your hands that works only with this claymore.

I'd say 75% of the time we finish the arming animation, but it does not get armed and the detonator does not get used. Once this happens we can no longer pick up the explosive anymore either, and it's just stuck wherever we placed or dropped it. It doesn't need to be in an IED like the other guy said but that will make for a bigger boom, find a detonator, place the plastic explosive, then arm the explosive with the detonator, and you're good to go. Put the explosive down, put the remote in your hand, look at the explosive and combine them together then walk away and when you hit the trigger it's gonna go boom.
