Thats the problem most players have. You can have a working base without any of the high tech stuff, without any of the well thought designs. Every solution has an easy fix. The one problem is that for a well working base you need to invest on some good design choices. Otherwise you constantly have to micro your base.

Pips may or may not be available from space so if your map has no pips. You can't complete the critter whisper. I've done it with out and my map didn't have pips and there were no pips in any of the space asteroids so that ended with a no completion. I did complete all achievements on rime. The hardest part is the carnivore.

The most challenging starts are probably those with Volcanea / Magma Channels where the starting area is directly exposed to magma, this however just requires moving quickly to seal the breach with either vacuum or insulated tiles.

Survival mode sets all of the individual difficulty levels (ie, hunger, disease, morale) to "normal". You can fine-tune the game from there to make things easier or harder if you like. For new players, reducing the hunger level of your dupes by one notch is probably a decent thing to try. #4.

No Sweat basically just takes all the optional settings to their most relaxed option: Extremely good immune systems, sunny disposition, no food needs, etc. Survival = default settings. Vanilla, Breath of fresh air update, map was started during the merge update. Several issues: 1: When built behind Bunker doors, had issues of steel being deleted even after being delivered for wires (power/automation) randomly when the build for the respective/both wires is completed causing the game to delete the steel, not complete the build, and remove any errands to complete the build.
