The Better Sax alto has had numerous positive reviews and I consider is a serious contender for ones first saxophone. The possible resale value I think needs to be factored in as mentioned in post #7 . ... I just meant to say that we can't use that as a good example to warrant buying a BetterSax sax. Jay and lots of other great teachers have

I personally think the BetterSax alto will be a great horn that I would heavily consider if I was a new player / will be a horn that I will consider strongly for my future kids, if they want to play, haha. Best of luck! BetterSax and YAS-23 are good options, it's ultimately up to you!

Tech Specs. Now let's go over in detail some of the technical specifications of the Better Sax. The bore is based on a top professional saxophone design which is a favorite of mine so it has a rich, focused sound with fantastic intonation. The original model of the Better Sax alto (EAS111) did not have the high F# key.

Consider this a Squier version of a saxophone. Very decent beginner horn but will definitely need to upgrade to a quality Yamaha or other good brand if the student continues. Read Sweetwater customer reviews for BetterSax Student Alto Saxophone - Dark Gold Lacquer. Rated 5.0 / 5 by 48 customers!

I thought all of you might like to hear my opinions as I actually own a BetterSax Alto and Tenor. I find myself getting a little irritated by the "cheap Chinese bias and will never accept an opinion from someone who doesn't own the horn thy opine on." ... but not in a good way. And here's the thing; her daughter is quite a good player, and had

The BetterSax Alto Saxophone. Out of all of these saxophones, ... a Chinese made saxophone and discovered that it was actually a pretty good value for your money. The pads sealed very well and the sound is surprisingly nice. It plays well in tune and doesn't look half bad. I was surprised at how well it plays considering the price.

The darker cognac lacquer gives the BetterSax Classic saxophones a sophisticated look that reminds us of some of our favorite vintage instruments. We also have the very cool underslung octave key which is a nod to elite Yanagisawa and Vintage King Super 20 saxophones. Most importantly this horn plays incredibly well especially considering the

The Better Sax saxes are Bundy. Bundy are solid student horn makers brand name used for student horns. The 23 though - widely has a reputation for the best student horn ever made. I have a YTS-23 can confirm it's a solid piece of work, not quite as awesome as my YBS-32 but it's a good horn. The one problem is that 23s is that the condition matters.

Don't have to throw the pinky as far for low notes... but still have to get used to it. All in all, a very well-spent $1200, I think. As good as I could have gotten in the $2500 range used (which is waaaaaaaay less than you'd hope. None of the good pro/semi-pro models are going for less than $3500-5000 right now.

Just saw a short by Better Sax Jay where he is playing a new Bundy Bettersax Alto that he says is an upgrade from the EAS112 will be priced at $1300. I am a confused a bit by his product line. Get the BetterSax while the deal is up. It is made by Conn Selmer and is better in quality than Jean Paul. I never tried the Jean Paul so its hard to say but I think I would put the Jean Paul in the same category as the BetterSax alto. A high quality but affordable beginner level horn. I am imagining that the Jean Paul doesn't feel as good as this horn though. I've played pro level horns that dont feel this good.
