The threads can bind up a bit, I have also covered the threads with shrink tubing if I don't have the correct bolt. I also put a washer that just fits into the pipe on the end of the bolt tightened between the nuts to stabilize and hold the bolt straight. You might need a longer spring/bolt, depending on the length of the pipe or weight of the

I loved this awesome spring loaded gadget cache!

I love springs and we have several that were approved as ECs and I know of other interesting spots but I am tired of the same old questions. Here is a short list of the typical questions: temperature of spring, volume of the flow of the spring, direction of flow, elevation at spring site, type of spring perennial, etc., etc.

Another important part of a geocache spring cleaning ritual is making sure that the cache container is clean and functional. If the container is broken, not closing properly, or if its time in nature has made it undesirable for finders to touch, it may be time to replace the container. Check your trackable inventory.

The Needs Maintenance log is used when the logbook is full or the container is damaged. If you are unable to sign the logbook either because it's full or too wet, select Report a problem and select the appropriate Needs Maintenance log, including Logbook is full, Container is damaged, or Other. Be sure to explain why the cache needs

If you're unfamiliar with geocaching, you might want to read that article first. You've likely driven or hiked past many a geocache in the past without ever realizing it. While our first article was more of a 101 intro to the hobby, now we're going to give you the various benefits that can come from taking up this hobby in the spring.

What you could do is try to get a local library to cooperate with you and allow you to hide a cache somewhere inside the library, and then set up a puzzle somewhere nearby where the cacher would go to the posted coordinates to extract a call number based on some clues found in the puzzle/at the site, then go into the library and find the cache at the call number.

For your first cache, I recommend something easy. Geocaching.com rates caches on a 1-5 scale for difficulty and terrain, 5 being the hardest. A 1/1 cache might be something hidden near the parking lot of a local trail head. A 5/5 might be an all-day hiking, climbing or kayaking adventure.

We were out doing our spring cache maintenance yesterday. This is the first cache we ever placed June 19, 2009. After 13 years the Lock & Lock has held up very well as it is totally dry with no leaks and all the snap tabs still work. The duct tape has some wear but is still doing its job.

1. Find Nearby Caches. This part is easy. Go to Geocaching.com and in the upper-right corner, put in your ZIP code (if you're in the US), or select your country.. You will see a list of available geocaches nearby with: how close it is to you (by ZIP code) the type of cache - traditional, multiple (one cache gives you a clue to another), virtual or mystery caches (no actual cache - just a

Many first-time geocache planters want to find the best way to hide their geocache, many times thinking that it would be a great idea to bury the geocache. This is one of the first and important rules of creating your own geocache, do not bury it. Few geocachers will be carrying around the required tools to find a geocache that has been buried.

Archiving a past geocache and placing something even better is one way to refresh the gameboard and share a new experience with geocachers. First, you should make sure your original cache has been in place for at least three months. Then you should make sure you have a new container and cache page ready before archiving the first cache.

The stamps are usually water-based like most rollerball pens or other pens that cachers use. It's the same issue whether pen or stamp. Sharpie (waterproof pen) is OK on most log sheet material, so maybe a waterproof stamp ink on dry paper (and allowing the ink to dry) will work better.
