Richard, I think that rotary engraving on mother of pearl might be more satisfactory than drag engraving. Since mother of pearl tends to be brittle, I visualize the scribed line produced by the tool as being rough at the edges. I think the that a single lip or single flute tungsten carbide cutter running at high speed would produce a smoother cut.
