Half-Life was incredibly popular in 1998 (and still is I'd say). But you should also try out Black Mesa, as it's just as good, if not better than the origina

So no, you shouldn't play Half Life just because of those connections. If you want to play Half Life, you'll need to keep in mind that it punishes you in combat situations if you're not used to shooters. The story is worth it. But you really need to be prepared for a fight. A tip if you decide to play: Don't try to camp a cover... It won't help

Even today Half Life 2 has moments I feel no other modern shooter has captured well. However, I don't have this same feeling with the original. Gunplay is great, like Counterstrike 1.6, and it's got pretty good variety and levels. However, it has a lot of little things that annoy me, such as the cheap "difficulty" tactics of the time, such as

If you're interested in playing Half-Life from a cultural historical perspective, then yes, play the original. If you're just looking to enjoy yourself and get introduced to the Half-Life/Valve world then I'd recommend getting Black Mesa. Half-Life is still a pretty solid game, but a lot of it hasn't held up as well as many of us like to believe.

Half-Life 2 Still Holds Up as One of the Best Video Games of All Time. Apart from its 25-year-old visuals and audio, Half-Life's technical issues and often unpredictable gameplay are an undeniably frustrating mess.In many ways, Half-Life is a well-oiled and smooth ride, but there are some instances in the game that will undoubtedly cause anyone unfamiliar with its dated mechanics to quickly

Half-Life is a very important game in the history of FPS games. Just don't get HL Source, get the original, and yes both expansions are great, even though Opposing Force is a little bit better than Blue Shift, and on top of that, you have plenty of mods to play.

The Xen, the Combine, and the mysterious G-Man await…. 9. Half-Life: Decay. Few people talk about Half-Life: Decay nowadays, and with good reason: it was a multiplayer-oriented expansion pack

Half-Life. Nov 16, 2001 - It may be nearly four years old, but Half-Life is still one of the best first-person shooters ever. Half-Life Doug Perry. Half-Life. Nov 25, 1998 - Nothing half-assed

IDK, I thought it was interesting scanning the areas and reading about the creatures you encounter, obviously you don't have to play it that way and only ever read the red icons that are important, that's what made the adventure element of the game (well for me) , scanning everything first playthrough if that's how someone wants to play it is

I just finished half life 1, and it was so good! Sadly I have to wait 2 months to play half life 2, due to studies. Half Life 1 is my favourite. A lot of people prefer Half Life 2 but it doesn't have the same feeling to me. A lot of the exploration you have in Half Life 1 just isn't in the second game.

Yes, you should play the Half Life series, but you can start with Half Life 2 and its episodes, because the first might put you off because of its age and difficulty, and its storytelling isn't nearly as good. You should play because I don't know of anyone who regrets playing it. If such people exist, they are few and far between.

I play half-life but I play as Pyro from TF2 I don't plan on finishing this but if you want the rest of the game as Pyro then I'll finish the game as PyroIns

2. Reply. DarthZykalus. • 8 yr. ago. Play Half-Life as it was originally, it doesn't have bad graphics, and if you actually take time to appreciate it then you'll see that a game shouldn't be criticised due to age, Half-Life is actually better than a lot of modern games. Just play it, you'll see what I mean. 2. Reply. 1upD.

Graphics don't matter too much.. and if you are worried about graphics, you can play black mesa. But I still enjoyed half life differently than black mesa. HL 2: Really a winner. Enjoy it. Episode 1 and episode 2 had relatively better graphics.. But I believe story telling and gameplay is where half life games excel. TLDR; Yes, it's worth it

Just don't play Half-Life 2 on PS3 ... Although obviously not as good in any way, and not as satisfying a port as say Doom 3 was, Half-Life 2 on Xbox was fine enough to get my first playthrough of it out of the way, and once finished I regularly went back to replay parts just as I would have done on PC!

Half-Life 2: Episode One is a very confusingly named game. It's a mini-sequel to Half-Life 2, picking up right where HL2 left off. Half-Life 2: Episode Two follows immediately after that. You could almost think of HL2, HL2:Ep1, and HL2:Ep2 as one long game.

It's a great game, but games have improved in quality over the years, but I'd say it's still tough to top Half-Life. But I digress. If you didn't like Half-Life, then I wouldn't bother with the rest of the series. Don't feel like you have to play it if you don't like the type of game. ... dont play hl2 if u dont like 1. play half life 3.. trust me.

Yes. Absolutely yes. Completely functional right out of the install. No issues. Worst thing is like half-assed default lighting settings and widescreen FOV, but those are easily fixed without any modding. The expansions are worth it as well, but only if you like Half-Life. Reply reply. Bamma4. •.

Here's a great breakdown. Notice how the sound, art, and level design are all being used cohesively. That's what makes Half Life 2 (and all Valve games) such great titles: they understand that every facet of a game is equally important. EDIT: A longer and equally good breakdown, this time of the entire game.

Alright, now, which Half-Life mods should I play? It doesn't matter if said mods are 1,2, or Alyx. I heard Entropy : Zero is good, so I might start there. ... but don't forget the HL2 cinematic mod. ... It's a great half life 1 mod
