They are whatever, it's like TNO LITE. Cant rly compare to alt universe mods like Equestria at War and The New Order: Last Days of Europe however. Easily S Tier. TNO is so good paradox hired some of its devs to help make Victoria 3, and EaW gets a ton of aid from paradox and was the first mod they showed off on their official YouTube channel.

TWR and TNO are two very different beasts. TNO is really meant to be a rebuke of things like Boy in the Tall Tower and even if the Axis won completely they would later fall apart. TNO's writing is incredibly amazing and gets you invested not only in characters and their storylines, but it also serves as a criticism of fascism, imperialism, war, nationalism, and jingoism, and a good amount of hoi4 players subscribe to those beliefs. and said people tend to be really butthurt about that. lol.

TNO has all Axis Members winning the war, and the mod turns the game into basically a playable novel. TWR is more gameplay oriented, and has Japan and her puppets losing to the allies while Europe falls to the Axis, TWR has more focus trees but a shorter overall timeframe, TNO has less focus trees but the big ones last 10 years and the short ones last 5 years.

You can engage TNO without playing it if you dislike HoI4's gameplay. Nothing bad about that. You can go into the mod files and read the events if lore is more your thing. But if you do decide to play, I recommend against playing Italy. It's boring, buggy, and is currently under rework. One of the most outdated parts of the mod.
