Even GothamChess is not immune from Hikaru's tactical blows. IM Levy Rozman began this game in a position from the Immortal Game, with an extra move for White to boot, creating a +5 starting edge. Hikaru won anyway and saved his best move for last.

GMHikaru starts the game with e4, and to give you an idea of the kind of player I am, I really should learn an e4 opening because I don't know why everyone at my level makes this move. A personal weakness in my game. GothamChess plays e6 which is my bread 'n' butter; I even really like e6 after c4, but alas I don't see much of the English.

KID: way too high, belongs in legit. It's a very Hikaru opening, but it's is only legendary in the same sense the King's gambit is: i.e. historically interesting rather than objectively strong. 1 b3: another Hikaru special that is way to high. Probably a Really bro opening. Kings gambit and stonewall are tricks only.

I, too, really miss these videos. My favorite was when, Anna, Levy, and Hikaru streamed together. That was peak pandemic chess. My memory is that some folks started saying negative things about Levi. And how he was only successful because of hikaru and he was Hikaru lap dog. Hikaru made a video thumbnail that was pretty offensive.
