The older games were harder, more fun, had better music and pacing and Kratos was more of a badass who felt like an actual god. The newer games have a better story and elements of the mechanics I like more (platform-y type games are played out) In my opinion they took a lot of what made a GOW game a GOW game and changed a little too much.
