I think Polyphia is technically a "Ibanez endorsed" band as they all play ibanez and tama but unlike Scott aeschliman and Tim, clay himself is not an endorsed artist. Bass player here, I had a lesson with Clay a couple years ago and from our conversation it didn't seem like theory, in the classical sense, was a big part of why he's so skilled. In my opinion it seems like a lot of his technique and playing style was born out of necessity to support the band.
