The most notable single feature of the Sauer 101 is its superb trigger, set at the factory at a nominal 2 pounds; it is not adjustable by the user. The test rifle averaged a pull of 2.45 pounds, which Sauer says is within its accepted range. By modern standards, this is a remarkably light pull. As it comes from the factory, the quality of the

Unlike the innovative Blaser and Merkel switch-barrel guns that are popular overseas, visually and ergonomically the Sauer 101 XT sticks to more traditional design principles. The Ergo Max polymer stock is of classic profile with a good straight comb, schnabel

At 42 and 44" long and 6.725 lbs or 6.94 lbs accordingly the 101 is a good looking and feeling rifle. The soft touch stock is very much to my liking with a decent 14.5" length of pull, cast-in gripping panels back and front along with an ambidextrous butt shape and pistol grip, and a good rubber recoil pad.

As you'd expect on a rifle of this pedigree, the trigger broke at 2 lbs. with no creep or overtravel. The Sauer 101 is fitted with either a walnut ("Classic") stock or a black synthetic ("Classic XT") version. The Sauer's stock includes the patented "Ever-Rest" bedding system, which features a metal block surrounding the front

May 01, 2013 By Mike Schoby. New for 2013, Sauer launched the new 101 with the slogan: "Old School, New Rules," and that sums it up well: Old world craftsmanship meets new technology. At first, the 101 looks like most other bolt rifles, but a second look surprises. A safer sliding cocking lever replaces a traditional safety and a 6-lug, 60

The standard 150-grainers were printing 1"+ but moving up to 168-grains and above seemed to suit it better. Dropping to an inch and better, so again more than acceptable. Having now tested both wood and synthetic versions of the Sauer 101, for me there's only one choice and that's the Classic XT!

Feb 8, 2023. #1. I am seriously considering getting the Sauer 101 cambered in .270, primarily as a highland stalking rifle. Torn between 101 Classic or splurging on the 101 Elegance for the better woodwork (I am a sucker for some nice walnut). Seen a few YouTube reviews and they all seem very postive.

The Sauer 100 Classic XT offers fine craftsmanship at a great price. The mere mention of a rifle made by J.P. Sauer & Sohn evokes thoughts of legendary European craftsmanship that soars above the norm. Such a level of quality does not come cheap, however, and while I've marvelled at many Sauer & Sohn works of art, I could never afford to buy one.

My preference would be for the Sauer. When I shot one (at Ivythorn - Thanks, Steve) I found it both handy and accurate. The non-adjustable trigger is a non-issue as it really leaves nothing to be desired out of the box. The rest of the rifle is the same. It's not a gun for tinkerers: it's a gun for unpacking, zeroing and shooting.
