The original GT 1030 carries about 48GB/s of memory bandwidth, calculated by taking memory bus width, divided by 8 to convert width to bytes, multiplied by memory clock, by 2 for DDR, and by 2 for

NVidia has taken a relatively successful card, the GT 1030, and has implanted DDR4 in place of GDDR5. It's actually getting system memory on it, which is a tremendous downgrade. The memory bandwidth reduction is several-fold, dropping from 48GB/s to about 16GB/s with DDR4, but the part that's truly wrong is that they used the same product name.

GeForce GT 1030 DDR4 vs GDDR5 comparison based on specifications, gaming performance, power consumption, and price. Find out how the newer GT 1030 DDR4 compared against the older GT 1030 card with GDDR5 VRAM. Both these GT 1030 graphics cards come with 384 CUDA Cores but the GPU clock is different between them. The newer GT 1030 comes with DDR4 or SDDR4 memory at 2100 MHz which is the same

The 1030 DDR4 is about half as fast as the 1030 GDDR5, and the 2400G matches the 1030 GDDR5. The 2200G is about 75-85% of the 2400G. So its clearly faster. Reply reply More repliesMore replies. The gt 1030 was an upgrade for the ancient gt 730. The 730 was most likely too expensive to produce, and it was alot better to just launch a 1030. Also, the main reason for GP-108 was for thin and light notebooks. Also, the gt 1030 IS a great card for mining, $/perf, just not at ethash.

The people in these purchasing roles often aren't computer geeks, they pay attention to product codes and pricing, not what type of memory a graphics card uses. They will see GT 1030 stock is low and they'll order more GT 1030 stock, it's not like cheap brand has on GT 1030, even before the DDR4 mess most brands offered 4 or 5 models.

For $10 more you can get double the performance with a Gddr 1030. And a Rx 550 is even more powerful than the Gt 1030 Gddr version for just a hair more (sometimes even the same price). The product seems like it was entirely designed for tricking people into buying something that's dirt cheap to produce. Reply reply.

GN was clear in their explanation of the situation. Given the inflated GPU prices and supply constraints, 1030's have been pressed into service as a (reluctantly) recommended gaming option. The card with GDDR5 made this seem like a viable option as performance was acceptable. The card with DDR4 does not perform at all like the card with GDDR5.

The difference between the two types of memory these cards use is almost irrelevant since the GPUs are so different. The GDDR5 GT1030 is probably the most powerful discrete GPU with a "normal" pricing, along with the RX 550. At $140 it's a bad deal, though. The other option is to switch to a Ryzen APU like the 4650G. It's more expensive, but it will give you the option to wait for better GPUs to drop the price (if they ever do).

Jul 24, 2018. #5. G (raphics)DDR memory in general is designed differently than system memory. GDDR runs at really high speeds, but also really high latency compared to system RAM. The timings would be awful for system RAM, but you can get away with that with graphics memory, with more MHz being the tradeoff.

Wait for Intels A380 to launch in America, $129 6GB of GDDR6 VRAM, far better performance (but rocky drivers), full encoder support and AV1 encoding, etc. Alternatively wait for the RX 6400 to go on sale, but that has problems like missing encoders and decoders, gimped PCIe 3.0 performance, and 4GB of GDDR6, while costing more than the A380.

A GT 1030 is going to be about 3x the performance of your 530, but look to be paying 2-3x what it's worth. A quick check shows if you can find one in stock it's $150-$225. When it came out in 2017 it was $79. Received the ZOTAC GT 1030 low profile, installed it and loaded the gaming drivers from NVIDIA web site.

The graphics card consists of a GT(X)10xx GPU and a bunch of other stuff including VRAM on the rest of the board. As long as they're still using the same GPU in the graphics card, the name is accurate. I'm not sure what's going on with the 1060 though, since that sounds like a different GPU to me ...
