There are so many fake, counterfeit AudioQuest HDMI cables that its like a flood.Check my opinion on fake Thunderbird - and check my review of fake Firebird

The point of faking a high priced cable is to get a significant chunk of that high price, NOT to sell it dirt cheap making it look like a steal. Because there are still costs involved with making the fake cable, AND you would need to be well compensated for the risk you are taking (typically). As to whether the cables are worth it or not, that

However, many of these "tricks" have broken down. Also note that a braid cover going "hairy", even on new-ish cables, is NOT necessarily a sign of counterfeit. Their current braids for Hurricane / Thunderbird / Firebird are very susceptible to this. I wish they'd address it as it detracts from the otherwise high quality feel of the product.

If it does, then please would the mods amend as necessary and accept my apologies. I wanted to post the following to warn other members of a current batch of fake AudioQuest cables doing the rounds on eBay, and probably elsewhere. The fakes are unsurprisingly those higher up in the product hierarchy - Specifically AQ Fire, WEL, and Mythical

Step 3. Match the appearance of the cable with the picture of the cable on the packaging. AudioQuest has specific braid colorings denoting the model and series of the interconnect. Fakes often have the right name on the connector shell, but mismatch the braid coloring from the image on the box. This is because the fuzzy picture on the box is

So just think of a slightly high budget and buy used if possible. Always make an offer even if it is a new cable. Vann's online sells these AQ HDMI cables at great prices, for New cables. Used HDMI cables are harder to find than other types of cables, so I would probably buy from Vann's since the new cables are heavily discounted.

Headphoneus Supremus. " And there's a representative of AudioQuest on the CTA Audio Board. I get booted from the board because I tell the truth but AudioQuest gets a pass for falsifying their ad. As one of their representative told me in an email exchange, "the truth is bad for commerce". So the solution is to cheat."

ThunderBird, FireBird, and Dragon can be recognized by the combination of the braid color and the connector plating. In particular, the Low-Z technology led to new approaches in designing the speaker cables ThunderBird, FireBird, and Dragon. The latter, by the way, harmonizes in the bi-wiring variant excellently with my Göbel Epoque Aeon Fine

Jun 30, 2023. A. A. A. ThunderBird Zero is the entry level of the three models in AudioQuest's new Mythical Creature Series of cables that includes the FireBird and top-of-the-line Dragon. ThunderBird packs the same superb fit 'n' finish of its stablemates and much of AQ's sophisticated noise dissipation technology at a more affordable

Another difference is in soundstage presentation. The Firebird is more forward in center, so the soundstage is flatter. Dragon gives a better instrumental separation and a more holographic image. Dragon in a few weeks will continue to improve in these areas and overcomes the last bits of issues I mentioned earlier.

The top-end Firebird and Dragon interconnects trade the ThunderBird's solid 'Perfect Surface Copper+' conductors for 'Perfect Surface Silver' at £4700 and £8100 for 1m RCA-terminated lengths, respectively, but the underlying 'ZERO-Tech' cable theory remains consistent. Low dielectric loss is sought by surrounding the signal cores with air

"You would think a company of that size would have serialized cables, especially at the higher end, but then that might help the second hand market, which is not in AQ's interest." Its just the opposite. Having a good used market has a huge effect on the new market.

Yes they are worth it but not more then a cinnamon level for video. Any more silver than that only helps audio. Every cable in my system is audioquest (audio and video). The point of a cable is not to make a bad signal good it but to do the lest damage possible to the signal. And for more then 30 ft. Fiber is best.
