Elliott Smith gives some solid advice on songwriting. Elliott Smith was truly one of the greats when it comes to both songwriting and playing guitar. He's an absolute monster at playing those weird chord progressions and in my opinion is severely underrated.

As a musician and songwriter myself he has always baffled me. There's no artist who throws me for a loop more than Elliott, I'm constantly asking myself how he came up with stuff. Not just the chord changes but the chords themselves, he just made them up they are rarely standard chords it's always some weird creative take on a standard chord.

It should come as no surprise then that Elliott Smith would be similarly afflicted. It is, however, a sad consequence of writing such sad songs that Elliott Smith has largely been looked upon as a lyricist of morbidity and despair. Song titles such as 'Miss Misery' and 'Ballad of Big Nothing' do little to dispel this notion, but to

Elliott Smith's Self-Titled album came out in 1995. To me, this album seems a lot more chill. Other than the songs "Needle in the Hay" and "Southern Belle", most of the songs sounds like relaxing after a long day. I would say my favorite song on this album is between "Single File" and "Satellite" . I love "Single File
