Yes this works for me too. Sometimes I have to jump onto the trunk and then slowly back down to get it. Just found a police car with some hooligans, beat them including the 10 zombies out of nowhere the game randomly throws at you for no reason. Survival sense says there's an interactible object (police trunk) but I cannot interact with it.
