The VHS-Decode project is an effort to improve the archiving of old analog video tapes. The project is a fork of the LaserDisc-focused ld-decode, started by [Chad Page] back in 2013, which readers

The Domesday discs are a combination of video, sound, still pictures, SCSI-1 data (EFM) and the data contained in the vertical banking which is specific to the laserdisc format. The duplication

I'd take the other guy's advice with a grain of salt. The big deal about using the DdD to backup tapes and Laserdiscs is that you can digitize them and decode as separate steps; images of the Domesday Discs made years ago at the beginning of the project are still perfectly useable and benefit from all the improvements done to ld-decode along the years.

The Domesday LaserDisk Archival project started out as an initiative to restore and archive the Domesday Project LaserDisk media that was created in the UK in the late 1980s to provide a historical record of Britain. As a result of the work done, they have now reached the point where they have a solution for reading and restoring video and

The project started out with LaserDiscs, but it's looking to expand to VHS and pretty much all other analog media. Recently, people have used the project to also preserve LaserDisc-based video games and have moved on to the Pioneer LaserActive platform : Games that run on the combination LaserDisc/Sega Genesis player referred to as Mega LD games.

Obtaining the Domesday Duplicator will allow the cleanest video signal using the Laserdiscs as the source before any minor post adjustments later. I am covered on storage, and master backup storage for post. I have over 3.5TB of HDD storage with a 4TB backup solution in place for the project. This should be enough storage capacity.

Thanks to Jason Scott on Twitter we learn of the Domesday laserdisc pit-perfect duplicator project.. The LaserDisc RF duplication system has now been tested successfully on a number of different capture set-ups and high-quality NTSC decodes have been produced by the ld-decode sister-project (proving the end-to-end viability of the LaserDisc preservation capabilities).

I've been collecting LaserDiscs for years and always been keeping an eye out for the best way to preserve them. The Domesday Duplicator has been on my radar for a while now but only recently was I finally able to check it out, and it does not disappoint!.

I'd love a bluray or 4k scan of that movie. That main actress is very pretty. Laserdisc isn't half bad looking but I want to see that amazing body in HD. Other movies I would love to see get bluray or 4k scans is Junior 1985 and possibly that one Australian Vampire movie I have on VHS which I can't think of the name of at the moment. Might be

Also, I don't intend on using the entire film, simply the scene which is unavailable on Blu-Ray, which I will then upload to a local and cloud-based Archive for preservation, and for my own personal use, I will master my own version of the film on a 50GB Blu-Ray using a rip of the official Blu-Ray with the LaserDisc exclusive footage spliced in.

If you capture from Laserdisc, either your player has a good comb filter (rare) or you should use a capture card with an excellent comb filter (VC500 has not, ATI 600 USB is slightly better) As Alwin said, nothing is better than a comparison on the field!
