Plus the top can be flipped up much faster. Would keep the Jeep feeling that much more special for weekend adventures. EDIT: It's my only vehicle, but isn't a daily driver. It may pull that duty for 6 months or so, but I plan to buy a Miata for that duty long term.

All in all, hard question to answer because it's fairly polarizing. Most people that drive Wranglers will say there's nothing wrong with them as a daily driver. Most people that drive sedans or built for comfort SUVs will say otherwise. My current car is a 2014 Subaru Impreza, so it's on the small size.

I have a YJ, TJ, and XJ and never depend on these rigs for commuting. Don't think I've owned a Jeep that hasn't left me stranded.

While I don't daily my TJ, I do drive my 95 YJ daily, I love driving my Jeeps. My commute to work and back home is 68 miles round trip. I dont pack a lot going to work everyday so the Jeep is a great daily. A change of clothes to workout, a brown bag lunch, and occasionally some groceries on the way home. As far as "the most affordable way of driving one," the answer is simple: Keep your foot off the gas pedal. Don't speed (especially since Wranglers have a short wheelbase and high center of gravity which means higher rollover rates, try not to take sharp turns too quickly, etc. As far as getting yourself IN a Jeep, you've already made one mistake.
