The AH-64D Apache attack helicopter has a two-seater tandem cabin. The pilot (PLT) is sitting in the back, co-pilot/gunner (CPG) is in the front. Their cockpits duplicate most of the on-board instruments. Both of them can also perform almost all the duties of the other crew member, although this is usually the case in emergency situations.

Updated: Feb 2, 2023. To say that this module has been highly anticipated by the community would be an understatement. Well over a year after first being teased and numerous delays, we finally have our hands on the AH-64D in its early access period. As it is an early access (EA) product, this will only be a first impressions article.

Well, yes. Sometimes it's better to way for the right man to do the right job, and do it the right way. Joe's our man and he will let you know what HE thinks about the Apache for DCS. Some of you know this, and some don't, but my day job is as an AH-64 pilot for the United States Army. I've been flying the 64 since 2005 and being an

DCS AH-64D Apache: Basics. The Basics chapter of the DCS: AH-64D Apache guide contains a description of the basic concepts and principles of piloting a helicopter and the characteristics of the AH-64D Apache itself. The following pages describe the cockpits, explain the differences between the "sight" and "acquisition", and how the artificial intelligence can work as a second crew member.

DCS: AH-64D development. A revolutionary attack helicopter and battlefield game-changer, the AH-64 grew out of the U.S. Army's 1972 'Advanced Attack Helicopter program.'. This identified the need for an attack helicopter that could outperform the AH-1 Cobra in terms of firepower, battlefield effectiveness, survivability, and range.

In the image below, you can see that the Apache is flying at 59 knots, at an altitude of 50 feet, climbing 200 feet per minute. Note that the faster the helicopter flies, the less you have to counter with pedals to keep it in a straight line. So remember to trim the position of the pedals as you move faster.

The easiest and fastest way is to just remove the IHADSS by pressing the "I" key. If though you want to retain the monocle, just set your level to zero on the TEDAC. Okay, back VRS and settle with power. Let's first review the most important controls. First, from the Pilot, Axis controls, make sure that the collective and lower levers are

The Apache is a bit of an interesting helicopter in DCS. Without doing anything to curves or anything, it flys very strangely. If you need to use the trimmer mode (s), it's nowhere near what a real helicopter feels like. I have found that with physical flight controls that negate the need for a trimmer (long extensions with minimal springs

This is the first of several planned FCR video and is intended as a simple overview. In this DCS: AH-64D video, I'm going to introduce you to the Fire Control Radar, or FCR, of the Delta. The AN/APG-78 FCR was designed to enhance the target acquisition and engagement process of the AH-64D when faced with large numbers of enemy armor units

For the next DCS update, the AH-64D will see the addition of three important features: the Fire Control Radar (FCR) Zoom and C-Scope functions and the LINK function for the FCR and TADS. Both are incredibly useful when engaging targets. The Zoom function allows you to zoom-in on the FCR Next to Shoot (NTS) target at a 6:1 ratio, or you can use
