Mar 3, 2024. #11. Had them both . I sold one MK50 to Braciola years ago and the MK50ii here a few months ago. The MK50 is the most awesome nasty amp I ever owned. 2 master volumes and I ran it through a G12-65 cabinet. I'm still in counseling over it because they are hard to find and people ask stupid money for them.

The Jet City Amelia was, from what I've read/been told, designed largely by the same guy (Martin Kidd) and took a lot of inspiration from the Cornford Mk50 II. As far as sounding like a hot-rodded Marshall with some Soldano baked in, that describes Jet City very well also.

Having demo'd just about all the Cornford line, the MK50 II is my favorite. These are the Minuses of the amp: 1. Expensive 2. It is noisy compared to other high gain amps 3. Very little compression (you have to crank it to get sustain) 4. It is looser than say a Splawn or Top Hat. Lower notes are not as articulate. 5.
