Here's my argument: Hyper casuals and bad players ruin games, not because of how they play the game, but because of how they complain about good players and how devs tailor the game to fit them. Exhibit A: Fortnite BR. This game has been looked down on for years, but it actually is a pretty good game. I've been playing since 2019 and it

The most significant reason for the exponential growth in hybrid mobile game design is iOS 14.5 and IDFA. Still, in the case of casual games, the increased adoption of meta elements is also due to the maturation of the casual mobile game scene. Especially midcore elements have found their way into casual games (and vice versa).

Merida, again. Jan 20, 2009. #16. trais said: It's not casuals. It's because with today's fancy graphics, motion capture, fully voiced dialogues, marketing and bribes for journalists etc. production of mainstream games cost millions of dollars, and thus games need to sell millions of copies to make at least some profit.

Your definition of casual gamer differs to mine. I assumed casual gamers were those that couldn't spend all day every day playing, but that doesn't necessarily mean they play on an easier difficulty. Either way the answer is no casual games or those playing on an easier difficulty don't harm the industry in any way.

He gets to the point (he just doesn't write it out) in the last paragraph, that it isn't casual gamers who ruin games, it's companies that saw the success of Candy Crush and think it's better to leave behind their loyal fanbase to suck it up to the masses. And he's right. Some of the big companies are complete idiots when it comes to business.
