I bought used 48v batteries from recyclers down here in Southern California for good prices, you can usually find these 48v 500wh packs for around 60 dollars. A used hub motor can be found for 75-100 dollars and a kt controller with screen and parts can be had from AliExpress from 120ish. Just takes some extra work.
