My guess would be that they're: a) primarily co-opted industrial robots, b) super dangerous, c) pretty hard to DIY (see this Jeremy Fielding video) . I'd assume the demand just isn't there, most effects can be pulled off just as easily with a high quality camera crane and a motion control head, it's only in cases where super precise repeatable movements are necessary that the robots would
