I auditioned the entry level D'Agostino amps with the DAWs and Sasha Vs. They were not a good match for my ears. I was a big D'Agostino era Krell fan, so predisposed to like D'Agostino stuff. I think the Vs and the Watt Puppies share drivers. At the Watt Puppy price point, I'm thinking maybe ARC 160Ms, or Burmester 216.

I have WATT Puppy6's with a Krell FPB400CX stereo amp and i think it is one of the most glorious systems ive heard in quite a while. I like the Levinson amps, I own a 3 series front end as well, but the amps tend to be anemic on the bass side of things. A little more money but well worth it. Also, Krell tends to offer an upgrade path with their

Thank you. Hey, I did some reading, and yes, no actual published max power specs. I did see some comments where Krell mono blocks of 900 watts rms into 8 Ohm, 1800 watts rms into 4 Ohm on the Puppy's. So it seems 7 watts minimum noted on their site drives them, then the sky's the limit, but it needs to be a good hi current amp.

Subscriber. Aug 10, 2007. #2. The Watt 3/ Puppy1 COULD be a really good sounding system. Remember them sounding very good, connected to Counterpoint gear of that era. Those originally sold for around $9000... but that was nearly TWENTY years ago. $3800 sounds a bit steep. Maybe $3000... if they're in REALLY good shape.

I listened to the Sophia 3s today and was blown away. I want to build a system around Wilson speakers, putting most of the money in the speakers and upgrading the electronics slowly. I owned both the Nautilus 801 using Krell FPB 600 w. upgraded mains & now the Watt Puppy 7s using the Krell & now VTL 750. It is an unfair comparisoin considering the price. But I will agree that the Watt Puppy 7s are a much better speaker. The 802D is a different question but I would guess that it will have the same problem as my 801s.
