Jun 26, 2021. #2. Listening to the two, I would give the edge to the SM57. It sounded more even. I thought the 8500 got a bit boomy and at times, indistinct. You might be able to reduce that by moving the mic a bit, maybe aim it away from the body. In the US, the SM57 usually sells for right at $100, the BM8500 is about $20.

2021-10-08: I cannot decide between the SM58 and XM8500. The SM58 is better built, with less handling noise, but I think the XM8500 sounds better. 2021-10-09: Final conclusion! If you begin with the low budget XM8500, do not jump to a mid-range budget mic like the SM58 later because the improvement will be negligible.

Get the XM8500 to save money. If you are on the road SM58. Sound wise they are so close that the only real sound difference is the XM8500 is needs less gain and is a tiny bit warmer but you won't notice that unless you dont A-B em back to back. I like both, but you aren't paying 80 more for a better sound. You are paying for the build quality.

Sound Quality. Ease of use. Features. Bang for buck. Overall: While the Behringer XM8500 will almost always be bested by a more expensive and more popular mic, this mic still has it's uses in drums, and vocals alike. Usually, when people need a quick and cheap microphone to fill the locker, they will immediately reach for a Shure SM57; however

Xm8500 vs SM58 vs Beta58. After testing it out, the XM8500 definitely had a little more bottom end and perhaps wasn't quite as bright as the SM58. I would say that the XM8500 has a flatter frequency response than the SM58. The SM58 rolls off a bit of the bottom end and has a little presence boost. The XM8500 was also slightly louder and needed

Hi there, I found the SM57 has a signature midrange bump that adds a bit of character, the Behringer XM8500 is flatter in the mids. The highs sounded the same to me. The highs sounded the same to me. Behringer have some very good SM-58 clones, each has its strong points. I love Behringer mics. Cheap price is advantage if they got damaged - buy new one. XM8500 - pretty close to original SM-58. Most popular Behringer clone. SL85S is also pretty good, it still have that SM-58 feel but it is easier to handle.
