With it's 7,107 islands scrawn out across the South China sea, I agonised for weeks over which I would visit during my week there. It's an incredibly beautiful beach, notwithstanding the large amount of mostly low rise hotel development, but one must stress that if a prospective visitor is looking for a quieter yet just as beautiful beach, Philippines delivers in spades. Bantayan, Malapascua, Siquijor, Bohol/ Panglao and Samal Islands are a few of the quieter alternatives

Is Boracay worth its hype?. Not for me. My Boracay had no cars, no tar roads, no pier, no mall, no shops except Sari Sari stores (very small store, usually attached to a house) and an open market selling clothes and knick knacks.. There were motor scooters and tricycles (motorbike with a side car). There were only a few high end places to stay. Most accommodation was basic.

Four locations in twelve days for a first timer in the Philippines could be a big ask for some but if you're flying in and out of Manila I have a suggestion.. Check out the restaurant reviews. Nigi Nigi Too in Station 1 is a nice place to stay and they have a nice laid back bar on the beach.

Most of this is true. If you're looking for secluded, relaxing beach, Boracay is becoming less and less of it. There are still some patches that are nice like the expensive resorts in Station 1 and beyond, but anything in Station 2 or 3 is a tourist nightmare. 2.
