I tend to favor the "transparent overdrive" kind of pedals, the more touch/dynamics responsive drive pedals. I build a lot of diy clones and such. Have a greedtone/red llama type pedal on both of my boards, have a Timmy clone which is the main drove I use on my smaller board, have built babershop, blueberry, etc, clones. All great stuff.
