In this premium video tutorial, Pro Tools Expert team member Julian Rodgers looks at why Lo Fi behaves like a transient enhancer on drums but changes the timbre of bass guitar.. Lo Fi - One Of The Best Stock Pro Tools Plug-Ins. Some people overlook stock plug-ins, favouring third party plug-ins. The logic being that if something is free it can't be as good as something which isn't.

Basically title. I tried Nembrini Lofi and while the distortion is very close, saturation is just not... Thanks lots! Edit: Not sure why I'm downvoted for asking a question... And I'm not looking for a saturation plugin. I'm looking for something that does what Avid Lofi does in terms of its saturation knob. Archived post.

Mix Tip. Assign the sliders on lossy to controls on your favorite MIDI controller (I use the Arturia Keylab 88 MKII which features physical sliders) to add a fun layer of tactile expression to this plugin.. 10. Avid Lo-Fi. Lo-Fi is a noise generator that adds soft clipping distortion and saturation to your sound.

6. AVID Lo-Fi Review Overview. According to the AVID website - Lo-Fi is a variable amplitude noise generator that adds soft clipping distortion and saturation to your sound. Re: Lo-Fi sound on vocals. Telephone EQ. That means DRASTIC EQ: -18dB under 1500Hz and -18dB over 3300Hz. Depending on the slope of the filters you use, you might have to boost a little bit (+4dB) at 1200, 2000 and 3500Hz. I know, those frequencies overlap the ones you just cut at, but that's what you need to do in order to accentuate the slope

Hi, does someone get the sound of the Avid lofi close with melda? The distortion/saturation is really nice of this plugin and works. Nembrini does something close with their lofi version, but not perfect.

the distortion knob in Lo-Fi from Nimbrini is pretty much identical in sound to the distortion knob of avid lo-fi.... but that still leaves that superb saturation knob to be replicated by some other vst! (Nimbrinis saturation knob sounds different.) Share Reply Quote

I promise you that it's not worth overthinking the "sound quality" between "lo-fi'ing" plugins. It's mostly the practicality that makes sense between them from a workflow perspective. From a practicality standpoint, Air's lofi plugin is better than most other similar plugins, even better than those released in the last 3 years.

Drive and Crunch will get you some distortion and use Damp to cut out some high frequencies, which is great to achieve that lo-fi sound. We bring in again the Pedal for some additional distrotion. Lastly add a Saturator. Dial back the Drive a bit and set the Dry/Wet to <10% - you only want a hint of saturation on the drums.
