The REL S/510 is the entry-level model in the company's mid-range Serie S line-up of subwoofers. This sealed unit sports a forward-firing 10-inch driver, combined with a 12-inch downward-firing passive radiator for deeper bass extension. Like its big brother the S/812 it has a revised cabinet, sits on rails instead of feet, uses an upgraded

The S/510's 12″ woven fibre passive radiator is hidden from view on the sub's underside and looks top quality. Like a thoroughbred sports car with beefed up suspension, these drivers have been engineered to cope with plenty of power, which in the S/510's case comes from REL's 500W NextGen3 internal Class D amplifier.

Of course, we are talking two REL S/510 subwoofers here, at £2,299, each so their combined cost is more than the speakers. This is fine because you can't have a perfect HiFi sound without perfect bass, its logical common sense. Subwoofers with Style. For £2,299 we do get very handsome looking subwoofers with a very high quality gloss paint

REL Acoustics S/510 Subwoofer is the latest in their current line up and interestingly is stackable. Dan Worth dials the S/510 into his system to hear what this £1799 subwoofer can do. REL's new S series of active subwoofers came as somewhat of a surprise to me and other industry professionals, it seems like REL wanted to make a statement

If you need a 510, you need a 510, two of these will not add up to a 510. If that's the speaker match that is called for, if we set it on our website, that's the right thing. If you need to come back in two years and buy the partnering S/510, so you finally have the stereo pair. Great. It's one of the most beautiful things about stereo pairs.

Power output from the NextGen 5 Class D amp is listed as 800 watts RMS and up to 1,000 watts peak. The Carbon Special has wireless capability via the REL AirShip II which is sold separately. Dimensions are 17″ x 18″ x 21.25″ and the weight is 85 LBS, the sub is available only in Gloss Piano Black..

Similarly, running levels just a few clicks lower will deliver a thin, hard, edgy acoustic that lacks body and warmth. Pairs of RELs deliver greater openness, delicacy, precision and also warmth, body and solidity; fleshing out the sonic performance of EVERYTHING in the sound. Whether to pursue the use of stereo pairs of RELs depends upon the

The S/510 manages to achieve the seemingly impossible task of squeezing a quart into a pint pot, without either shattering the glass or making the outcome not worth the effort. It uses a 10" front firing long-throw continuous cast alloy cone bass driver, with a second passive radiator firing into the floor. It also uses the NextGen3 version

This is a HiFi review of the REL S/510 subwoofer. The first thing to know is that I am a believer in subwoofers, I am an owner of the 'entry' REL T/5i that supports the Jern 14 DS speakers I love so much. The Jern speakers were, and are, designed with a subwoofer in mind to take the low-end 20-100Hz range so that the Jern tweeter and midrange can concentrate on the 'good' stuff.

But in my odd-shaped listening room, the introduction of a sub-bass unit has often rewarded with marked sonic benefits. The S/510 is the most affordable of RELs three-strong, mid-level Serie S range, aimed at elevating higher-end systems in medium-to-large-sized rooms. The series also includes the larger S/812 and twin-active 212SE.

At £1,800, the S/510 is the most affordable of REL's three-strong, mid-level Serie S range, aimed at elevating higher-end systems in medium-to-large-sized rooms. The series also includes the larger S/812 (£2,300) and twin-active 212SE (£3,500). The S/510 replaces the slightly lower-priced S/3 SHO sub-bass speaker that was previously

The beautiful new cabinetry is contrasted by subtle gunmetal grey badging, and the feet have been replaced by ultra-stable rails, reflecting proportions from REL's reference portfolio. The S/510 uses the S/5's NextGen2 amp and now features a full 500 W monoblock design. The increased power is needed to handle the special filters first used in

A pair of KEF LS-50's -around $1500/£1200 on decent stands is what. Or better yet, a pair of Harbeth P3's at double the price, but what a sublime little speaker. Amazon sells some decent, heavy 28" stands for around $140/pr. Use BluTack to fix them to the stands. Your PS Audio Sprout will still work fine, but the LS-50 sounds best

All in all, fantastic subwoofer and also easy EQ and integration to 2-channel stereo using the SVS app. CHECK SPECS ON AMAZON. 3. Polk HTS 10 (10-inch) This relatively small 10″ 200-watt sub really rocks when coupled with a good receiver. Polk HTS 10 is a boom for the buck, small in size but strong.

Loudspeakers. onehorsepony March 10, 2023, 5:48pm 1. I'm very new to the concept of subwoofers. I am curious as to what I can expect by adding a subwoofer to my B&W 802D 2-channel stereo music only system. I've heard Paul mention REL subwoofers, and also noticed that Abbey Road uses REL subwoofers with their B&W speakers.

These aluminum-backed-by-carbon fiber-coned wonders have taken the high end audio world by storm and have amassed an incredible number of "Best of" and "Subwoofer of the Year" awards. Frequently sold in stereo pairs, they partner with speakers ranging from perhaps £2,500 ($3,000)-£10,000 ($15,000).Their ability to operate in stacks

Bass response on my 2.0 (Naim + B&W) system is already really good. I do use a B&W ASW675 on my (Sony + B&W) 5.1 system, which I do think brings something extra to films, and probably music as well. As it happens, I was listening to DM's Violator on SACD last night and the warm, enveloping sound, especially the bass, was so 'there' it

S/510 allows those with less space, or when pairing with high end speakers that are slightly less robust to have a perfect dance partner when the S/812 is simply too much of a great thing.
