Fwiw that orange fish is a bocourti- chisel tooth cichlid. It's central, not south American, and will get around 12" or better in good conditions. They're usually pretty good at eating any plant matter in the tank and are poop machines. Your best bet would be a bigger tank and better filtration.

My designer eye says stack one side even more than the other. Even "fading" the right side to just a couple small scattered rocks in bare sand. I think that could make it more dramatic. Full disclosure I've never had cichlids, but you did ask for criticism haha :)

They hang close to the bottom and need a lot of rock to hide and dart through. The biggest thing is to make sure the rocks are stacked as such to break the "line of sight" of the chasing fish. Basically if they lose sight of the chased fish, they will lose interest or chase the next thing they see. 64 tanks in the fishroom.
