It does seem like the Hylden would have easily won, but remember that at the time humans and vampires were friendly with each other, it was during the banishment that the Hylden inflicted the vampires with the blood curse, they were a noble respected race before then, so multiple races in Nosgoth may have allied to defeat the Hylden, they were starting a holy war
