I've never buried a container nor have I built an underground bunker. It seems to me that if you are smart enough to dig a big hole, find a shipping container and have it delivered, rent a crane to put it in the hole, and then make a concrete and rebar reinforcement, it would be much easier to just make a concrete bunker.

Why? Best plan is to "eat what you store and store what you eat" ie put your food preps into rotation. If you decide to go for the long term food storage (20 yr freeze dried) the manufacturer spells out the proper storage requirements to get the specified 20 yrs. Neither of these methods will yield useful results buried in the ground.
