I have a virgin kick. I'd like to mount my tom on the kick. But I'm not too excited about drilling a hole in the kick. The lug-mounted Ludwig system seems to be a rather benign solution. I'm soliciting feedback on folks who have used them. Maxwell's used to install them fairly routinely on virgin kicks in sets they sold.

I got a heavy Atlas stand to mount it to, and still didn't like the balance of it. I tried putting the tom on a snare stand, and found that I didn't like the tom that far left, plus it was also unsturdy at times. So I tried the arch rail. I like it. I did a lot of research on it. It's easy to install, and it gets my tom right where I want it.

I'm using the Arch to mount a 12' rack tom on my Gretsch Brooklyn and I'm very happy with it. I think the criticisms about the mounts being bulky are valid but I'm fitting a 22' Bass drum into a 22' protection racket case without issue (though it is firm). The mount is functional, is easy to position and stays put when you have it set.

I like the arch atlas mount. Its like the old school style bass drum mount. It puts the rack tom right where I like it. You probably could put 2 arch mounts on the bass, but I think it defeats the purpose. If you want to hang 2 toms, you could probably use 1 mount and add another tom holder to the same mount.
