It's still fuel injected, coil pack, crank trigger, front mount radiator. So yes you can subi swap in an full automatic, hook up the vacuum line like normal to the intake. It shifts fine, drives normal, and cools great. Subi swap confirmed is working and possible in an automatic. Second picture isn't the automatic but it's a subi swap too.

Vehicle: 73 vw super beetle. Got some more parts in this week. Finally got my transmission, a TY754VBAAA from a ver 5/6 sti. After doing some research, the Aasco flywheel I picked up takes a larger 228mm clutch disk and beefier pressure plate. Coincidentally, the later VW Bus, and earlier 911's also use a 228mm clutch.

I have recently purchased a trans go shift kit for my 05 beetle. And also new input and output shaft speed sensors. As I am pressed for time and need the car im going to attempt the repairs myself. I am a former chrysler tech. So I'm pretty confident in my ability to address the issues. Parts are on the way. I will definitely share my experience.

Update: I'm no longer working with a '73 Super Beetle. I'm now using a '67 VW Type 3 Squareback. Yes that makes it the second Miata + Type 3 on GRM as well as the second two-seater station wagon on the forum (that I know of). It's a full blown movement! Original post below:-----

I came across a 73 Super Beetle, which was abandoned halfway through a Baja Bug conversion. It's got no interior, no engine, steering wheel and I assume it needs new brakes. Body has minimal rust, rims, tires, suspension all in good shape. Gears shifted good. Got it for $750.
