Let's talk about this Tier List. This TList has been done on my own about the multiple games that I've played in 1v1 most of the time. Indeed, this tier list is dealing with a 1v1 POV. I'll explain my choices for top civs and worst civs. I won't give my opinion on African civs because I didn't encounter them so much and 'cause I don't have the DLC.

French Heavy Cannon or Great Bombards. Yes, they're expensive, requiring Factory time or shipments to obtain, but they're amazingly powerful compared to regular artillery, and much tougher to boot. The benefit of the large area of effect is hard to overstate. Utility wise, flaming arrows are the best.

Abuse line of sight. Units at the bottom of a steep cliff typically can't see what's on the top of the cliff. If the bombards are at the bottom and you're up top, you can ranged attack them for free. Units on walls gain bonuses to defenses and attack. Your archers might be able to weaken the bombards before the wall collapses.

AoE3DE - Unit Guide (Update 47581) 1920×1449 186 KB. Here's a quick reference guide for which units fit within each unit category. I tried to be as straightforward as possible, but there a lot of units that weirdly fall within two categories or don't fall into any category or are mistagged.

The Great Bombard was a unit used by the Ottomans during the nineteenth century. They were one of the largest cannons around, only to the ones on ships. Their cannon balls were 2.5x larger than a normal cannon ball, commonly used to destroy enemy cannons, as well as scatter the enemies cavalry. The downside to these large shells was the load time. It took two or three minutes to load the great

Bombards are great but the most annoying thing about them that they are SUPER SLOW . Ok these are my opinions for the best units HI Ashigaru (good firepower and high bonus vs cavalry, also can be easily mass produced in late game) LI Longbow men (long range can take out early attacks without getting any damage from infantry or cannons)

The thing with Great Bombards is that Ottoman Games mostly end in Colonial or Fortress ... now there is 1 special art unit that is worth using, and thats rockets mainly because they are good against everything, cost 1 less pop and maybe most importantly can be sent from HC in a batch of 2 (in fact that card is the best infinite send card in

The Great Bombard is a gunpowder siege engine in Age of Empires IV and is unique to the Ottomans, effective against buildings and groups of units. It is the Ottoman replacement for the Bombard that uniquely has a 0.75 tile radius area of attack across which it deals 15% of its direct damage. Great Bombards cost more resources, train slower, have a slower Rate of Fire, and take one more

I think that might help. Just have them walk right under the fort canon before attacking. The fort will do much less damage to units directly below the canon. Well if you are making Great Bombards you're Age 4 as you said.. so that's not much faster than making mortars anyway.

French: gendarmes, tanky, quick to deploy, aoe; the best unit in the game if we ignore super specials. Portugese: cassadors, best skirmisher in the game, though by the end of the day still a skirmisher. Japan: ashigaru musketeers, fast, good dmg and somewhat tanky but still a musketeer. Sioux: Bow riders, super high base dmg and awesome against

Generally good strategy is to mass Janissary with them, bombards on 2 separate control groups and Janissary on one. Focus bombard groups (in this order) onto enemy siege, large masses of enemy army (particularly archers) and buildings. Keep the Janissary mass right on top of the bombards, and I mean right on top, don't let them move ahead or

Longbowmen are cheaper and can do more damage at a larger range than Rangers in every situation, except when facing Heavy Infantry. The extra damage over time for Longbowmen on siege is actually quite weak and doesn't add a lot really, at least in my quick tests. 10 Likes.

There has been a lot of complaints about bombards in the forums, and that has also spilled over to all siege units, the same way French hulks turned into broad complaints that the French civ is so super OP they can even win 2v1 among 3 players of same skill level (exaggerating a bit, but the unfounded uproar in the first few weeks of AOE4 wasn't too far off that description).
