Super Distortion® | DiMarzio

https://www.dimarzio.com/pickups/high-power/super-distortion
VIDEO: 5 Facts You Don't Know About DiMarzio. When we first built the Super Distortion®, it was a 1-conductor pickup. As a 4-conductor pickup, it's extremely versatile. Coil-splitting produces a very Strat®-like option, both in tone and power. Parallel wiring is similar to splitting, but it's still humbucking and a little more hollow-sounding

But I didn't like that, either, you know? So there was a lot of experimenting going on. But the typical experiment was to rout a big hole in a guitar and hope for the best. ... (Image credit: DiMarzio) "Actually, I don't like Tele neck pickups at all - never did. As a matter of fact, when we [in later years] made the Twang King pickup,

Which "high output" dimarzio pickup should I get? - The Gear Page

The Steve Special is my #1 favorite higher gain Dimarzio. That would hands down be my recommendation if you're looking to stick with Dimarzio. I really don't like the Super Distortion personally. Otherwise, I am a diehard Bareknuckle loyalist and they make a ton of different high gain pickups that are all incredible in their own ways.

Very full tone. Long neck tenon. Great neck shape. Interesting and striking finish. It has two cream colored Dimarzio's that don't have any identifying info. Well actually they might. Not sure what I'm looking at. The Aria is a '78 according to the Matsumoku site. According to some, Dimarzio may have supplied them OEM. But I really don

Can I ask something about the Dimarzio forum?

https://forum.seymourduncan.com/forum/the-pickup-lounge/337546-can-i-ask-something-about-the-dimarzio-forum
The DiMarzio forum is a good source of information, but it's definitely not active enough. Don't post there and expect to get a useful response within a day or two. Still, it's an archive of useful information, especially for older models that don't get discussed here much. Sad that DiMarzio hasn't invested in it formally.

The Birth of the Super Distortion | DiMarzio

Larry DiMarzio (center) with John 5 (left) and Joe Satriani (right), Total Guitar magazine photoshoot, 2008. "I invented replacement guitar pickups and the Super Distortion ®, the world's first replacement pickup, developed over a period of several years. Happily, it's the same as it ever was… built in America by the same people in the

Re: Dimarzio Fast Track 1 and Chopper Review (long and detailed) according to dimarzio website they recommend a chopper or cruiser with the air norton. i would think of the fast track 1 as in between the chopper and cruiser. so a fast track 1 would probably work. the air norton and breed are too hot for my taste, but i

Dimarzio Super Distortion (b) + PAF (n): good combination?

https://www.lespaulforum.com/index.php?threads/dimarzio-super-distortion-b-paf-n-good-combination.123823/
I had early 70;s DiMazio SD's in the bridge and PAF in the neck of 3 or 4 of my guitars in the 70's/80's and for playing hard rock it was the perfect combination. I don't know about the newer DiMarzio's, but if you can find some from the 70's I'd say go for it! I thought the pickups matched up nicely in the output department.

DiMarzio Super Distortion: Over 40 Years of Brutality

https://thetoneking.com/dimarzio-super-distortion-over-40-years-of-brutality/
Not to mention, the Super Distortion can make the aesthetics of a guitar pop with it's cream, white, or if you want to get even funkier, blue, pink, red, green or purple. In 1972, DiMarzio put out the S.D. pickup. This pickup started a sound revolution. Replacement pickups simply didn't exist before the invention of the Super Distortion

The Breed

Of course, feel free to post your own Breed-related thoughts, also about the Breed neck. According to DiMarzio.com the Breed was designed for Steve Vai to contrast the hotter Evolution pickups in his other Ibanez JEM guitars. While the Evo and Evo 2 pickups have screaming highs that cut through the mix and are considered ear-piercing by some

Drew December 7, 2021, 5:23pm #10. IMO Dimarzio still hasn't topped the PAF Pro, and I'm not some 80s shredder bitter about kids these days and their skinny jeans and their djent. Kurt Cobain was the reason I picked up a guitar and it wasn't until years later I started to get into shred, and I still haven't played a neck pickup I like

Dimarzios | The Les Paul Forum

https://www.lespaulforum.com/index.php?threads/dimarzios.204785/
Important to know though about DiMarzio pickups and modern Les Pauls is that you want to order the F-spaced version of the bridge pickup and the regular-spaced version for the neck. As odd as it sounds, the regular-spaced DiMarzio bridge pickup screws/poles do not line up well with the strings of a typical modern Gibson (or Epiphone) Les Paul.

It may be possible to identify the model from this information. If not, we may also need to know the DC resistance of the pickup: After taking note of all connections, unsolder the pickup wires from the guitar. You may leave the bare ground wire, if any, connected to the guitar if you wish. If this is a 4-conductor pickup which has the black

Dimarzio B4, B2 & N2 Pickups | Ibanez JEM Forum

https://www.jemsite.com/threads/dimarzio-b4-b2-n2-pickups.109146/
There are lot of different DiMarzio pickups that have been labeled B1, B2, N1, N2, etc. Sometimes they were also known by other names, like PAF Pro, but they can also be OEM pickups only available in a given guitar by a given manufacturer. Certainly B and N numbers are on both 6 and 7 string pickups as well.

The caps I use (NOS Russian K42Y-2) are cheap and great. Especially for me, because I use the tone knobs probably more than the average. But still. You can get four long shaft Bournes 500kA for $20 shipped off reverb or ebay. The caps may cost you $20 for a pair, but I bought a big quantity (40+) and paid a fraction.

Wiring schematics and stuff

Hi, Unfortunately the google drive links you posted are not working for me but I understand that you want the following combinations: #1 bridge #2 bridge split (neckside coil) + middle #3 middle #4 neck split (neckside coil) + middle #5 neck You don't need a super switch for that. This wiring can be done with a regular 5 way switch (you may have to change the wiring on the neck pickup slightly
