Smaller ammo capacity, 12 vs 25. Arrows CAN be compression blasted back in your face by a lucky / skilled pyro. You cannot fire your bow underwater. This makes snipers who decide to use Jarate / Razorback (which is most of them) and the Huntsman practically useless and defenseless if going in the water.

Olse's Epic Huntsman Tips. By {N} Olse and 1 collaborators. With close to 3 1/2 years and 700 hours of experience, this guide aims to give advice and pointers on how to improve and, ultimately, master the Huntsman for the Sniper in TF2. Secondary and Melee weapons will also be covered briefly, based on how well they mesh with the Huntsman.

Compared to the Sniper Rifle, the Huntsman carries less ammo, deals less damage on fully-charged shots, and lacks a scope. However, it also charges its shots faster, and allows the Sniper to move faster while charging (53% of normal movement speed, compared to the Sniper Rifle's 27%).

Penetration is the first thing you want to buy for the huntsman, then depending on how linear the map is you can shoot one arrow to take out a lot of robots. It used to be a lot more useful because it's taunt could stunlock giants, but it was patched in a recent update ensuring infinite sads. It's still a fun thing to use on lower difficulties. The huntsman is mostly based on luck and does not require mm uch skill to use. The Sniper Rifle. While the huntsman is definitely more flexible (and a more attractive choice for most players), the potential of a well positioned sniper with the vanilla rifle is far more deadly. Sniper rifle.

SMG hands down since the huntsman is high damaging, unreliable and has a long reload time. The SMG is low damaging, reliable, extremely accurate and has a fast reload. This covers a lot of the huntsman's weaknesses as you can finish off opponents after a 120 damage arrow, use it for self defense after your arrow misses, and adding much needed

Probably not the "best" but it's fun. For mobility I like to use the Huntsman, Jarate, and The Bushwacka. #3. Myse Sep 3, 2016 @ 11:08am. I suppose you can equip the DDS as a secondary (and everybody will hate you) since you are playing as offense with the huntsman. I'd choose stock for melee.

1. I suck at sniping, and. 2. Sniper's main job is explosive headshots and the sleeper is the best at it with its increased base charge rate, which gets you maximum splash damage sooner. Also never use stock, it has no benefits and the drawbacks of every other rifle are negligible.

here is the jist of the way it works: projectile and hit-scan hitboxes are boxes around your character. if a shot hits it, it's a hit. Same with headshots from arrows. It's just the hitbox for huntsman headshots is quite large, otherwise it'd be near impossible to get headshots with it. in broad terms the radius to hit a headshot with the

The lack of headshot explosions really screws up your group damage and slows down damage on medic teams. Your overall damage is so low by comparison that a huntsman will usually just be carried by the rest of the team. 65% of the time I see the scouts out damaging a huntsman, which is awful. 5.

The sniper should upgrade jarate to keep all enemies soaked, and then reload speed which can dish out quite a bit of damage. On the Huntsman bleed and maybe penetration is also nice - The spy should upgrade the sapper (getting 10+ scouts to stop is a nice thing) and then the backstab speed and keep killing all the medics.

Nice guide. I love playing as a Huntsman Sniper, the amount of hitsounds you get with bleed damage is so satisfying. Huntsman is hella good on Downtown, due to the choke point, that consists of two entrances. Usually robots only go one side, and, oh man, it's so good on that map. Not to mention of the small corridors before the Point A.
