It does not put the Tetris player at a disadvantage, and I do it every game. The trick that Rent2525atpuyo (the Tetris player in the video) was not doing is that it is far more effective to hold the first T piece in each set of 2 and send 2 TSTs at a time. I have beaten top-level Puyo players with this strat, including Void (#13) and shoe (#16).

Any competent Puyo player should be able to set up a basic 3-floor chain of enough length to kill you if they see you trying to 4-wide. Puyo VS Tetris are a weird situation, since garbage sending works differently and has different garbage tables. While not exactly balanced, they're kinda hard to play seriously.

Yes, 4-wide is overpowering in a lot of official Tetris games with VS modes since Tetris Online Japan, especially with both Puyo Puyo Tetris games. And yes, the hatred did come from the fact that TTC neglected it for years and hasn't listened to the playerbase's "feedback" (read: rants and complaints about it) for years.

Denial. The first step in the process, is denial. Seeing your opponent start their 4-wide stack may instill despair within you. You just reject the possibility that they are playing 4-wide with every fiber of your being. You make yourself believe they are merely stacking normally or setting up a t-spin.

In Puyo Puyo Tetris I'm mostly gonna be talking about the VS mode when it's Puyo Puyo going against Tetris. When Puyo Puyo goes against Tetris most people will choose Tetris as it is something that most people are familiar with. When playing multiplayer, Puyo Puyo players have an unfair advantage. One day, my friends and I wanted to test this and we had three of them playing tetris against me playing puyo. I easily defeated them. There's a distinct power gap between players playing puyo well and players playing tetris well. I wonder if they plan to address this. Also, Denuvo sucks.

On top of that with a 4-wide center you can absorb a lot of damage an then counter attack and the Puyo Puyo player just won't be able to do anything. Also, garbage in Tetris isn't much of a nuisance compared to garbage in Puyo Puyo, I would even say that garbage in Tetris can actually work in your favor.
