If the price for the original is obscene, I will buy a repro and put it in a case with the rest. My collection is for what I want on my shelf, not about how much it is worth for resale. I will say that for repro games that had battery saves, confirm that they are able to save and have batteries. 4. Award.

I buy physical media. A lot. I love it. I love having these things here where I can hold them and see them, but good god are retro game stores becoming a terrible place to shop for games. In the last week, I made a point to go to every retro game store within reasonable reach of me in so cal, and this is the gist of what I found.

A lot of gen 3 pokemon repros get corrupted after beating the elite four or when booting a gen 4 pokemon game when the cart is installed in a DS. Additionally, no reproduction cartridges support RTC which means gen 2 and gen 3 pokemon games will not work fully. Also, if you look around a little more, you can probably find those reproduction

May 28, 2021. #1. What do you think about the retro reproduction games? Normally, I prefer getting the original games, which is no problem as I have a Japanese Saturn and many Japanese games are very cheap. But with some story driven games, buying an English version would be the better choice. By coincidence I found out that etsy offers lots of

This is especially common for rarer older cartridge games for NES, SNES, Genesis. My first thought is that it would be illegal to make them, let alone sell them, because I'd consider it piracy. But a quick ebay search of "repro NES games," or any other console, has tons of hits and are selling fairly well. This isn't an avenue I'm willing to go

Sure, there's emulation and flash carts, but at this point it's symantics. They're bad for collectors because a BUNCH of reproductions look like the real deal.

The only 'grey' area is if it's a homebrew, and even that is not legal if they are using assets that are owned by a company like Nintendo.
