Hi, I am four months and half sober after two decades of heavy drinking. I did manage to stop three months with AA, three years ago, but talking about alcohol over there, on a daily basis made me nervous and I ended up drinking again. It took me another three years to be in the correct mindset to stop again... In my current situation, I did change my life to increase my chances of success. I moved out to another city, I went back to the gym & swimming, supported by a lot of self help, but most importantly I decided that drinking again wasn't an option anymore at the same level of seriousness that , as an adult, being a carefree teenager again wasn't an option either. With this mindset I went through a lot of emotions and realisations of the negative impact of alcohol in my past, however I have never been tempted and actually I never think about alcohol as a way to escape. I embrace me sobriety as much as I can, doesn't matter if I feel good or bad. I feel real and alive. I go out and I am even proud to be a boring non drinker. Anyway. I was just wondering how you manage to deal properly with your sobriety while talking/thinking about alcohol so much? I remember this AA member, a lady in her 70s, she has been in AA for almost 40 years and since she got sober, every single morning she has been thinking about drinking ....for 40 YEARS!! For 40 years, she has had meetings everyday, has called AA members everyday, has been praying several time a day, everyday. It broke my heart when I heard her testimonial and I thought that it is almost impossible to experience a healthy sobriety if one keep thinking or talking about alcohol regularly. I did a few videos like your lately as I wanted to see how people feel about their sobriety but it feels more like they are fighting against their demons than embracing their sobriety... just my 2 cents

I drink NA beers from time to time. I was an alcoholic beer drinker for over a decade. When I first got sober I jumped right to NA beer but then realized I wasnāt working on my addictive behavior, I was just substituting my addiction with something else. I was basically drinking 6-12 NA beers the same way I would regular ones. So I stopped those all together also. Now I might have one or two NA beers on very rare occasions. You have to make sure you are changing it up and finding new hobbies. I would wouldnāt recommend Na beer in early sobriety.
