Parasyte: The anime where a high-schooler's only real friend is his right hand!

This was such a relatable anime for me. The story of a boy who gets in trouble with his parents, girls, the police... all because he can't control his right hand

I liked that his hand just became his bestfriend.

Migi: “If necessary, I’ll think of other ways to make you feel better for later.” Me: oh gawd.

Honestly, I loved this whole concept. Not only was this a turning point where Shinichi became less human but the whole concept of Migi detaching and pumping blood for him was so interesting to me, and so unique. I loved this episode, even though it was heartbreaking as well.

This was the turning point. This was when the series became truly agonizing to watch. Not because it was bad or because this was just too sad... but because it was far too real. Shinichi finds out his mother is dead... and is then assaulted near-fatally by her visage. The trauma of loss, then the trauma of perceived betrayal. Everything changes here. His body is scarred in ways that externalize his inward trauma, and everything about him starts to change from his physical abilities to his behavior and emotional spectrum... and so he starts thinking he's becoming less human. And when he threw away the puppy's corpse, we wanted so badly to hug him and tell him that it was okay... that he wasn't becoming a sociopath or a monster... that he was just struggling to process the concept of death and its effect on the living... that a part of him was trying to devalue the dead in a desperate bid for normalcy, as if it would make the death of his mother less tragic and horrific. This is the most thoroughly written media portrayal of PTSD we've seen... not only exploring the "shell shock," but the depression and many-faceted alienation. The feeling of your trauma holding a knife to every throat surrounding you. The feeling of becoming less human - becoming an unfeeling or hateful monster. Losing or nearly losing friends because they can't understand because you sincerely can't find a way to tell them what's happening to you.

I love this transition of Izumi’s character. This is where he lost most of his human emotions and embraced what he became to kill any parasyte he came across

I love that by the end of the show migi shows that he learned empathy by saving shinichi's gf. As if to say empathy isnt irrational but a deeper kind of rationality.

Technically the ‘parasite’ attached to the guy who hit stabbed through the heart is a symbiote. There’s mutual benefit.

The last 1 minute is just black screen, so that he can reach the 10 min mark

I don't know why, but this scene made me somewhat imagine how it could feel losing a mum.

I love how this is presented. Usually, most anime and manga have the main character have to kill someone who resembles somebody important to them and they struggle despite being aware of the fact it isn't them. This person is also usually dead for quite a while. This situation is also usually used to easily make the character get over the death. However, shinichi barely had time to process this and didn't even expect his mother to walk in so he just goes into complete denial

6:25 Why does this make me laugh so hard? The way she goes from "Die" to being suddenly sliced just makes me laugh so hard.
