Lyrics for anyone who wants them:
I struck a deal with the devil
Masquerading as a god
I sold my soul, now I'm all alone
With my bruised and battered heart
One day I'll have the freedom
To finally leave a mark
'Til then, I'll just be dancing with the dark
I am the whisper of a memory
I am the fear you might have lost your mind
I am the face you don't remember
But you have seen a thousand times
The ghost who is still alive
I didn't know any better
Thought that I was being saved
I let him take my hand as he led me in
To a different kind of cage
Does a life have any meaning
If no one knows your name?
If not, then I'm the only one to blame
I am the whisper of a memory
I am the fear you might have lost your mind
I am the face you don't remember
But you have seen a thousand times
The ghost who is still alive
I watch the time tick, tick away
On a broken clock
Made without a face
I once begged for more
What a sacrifice I made
I am the whisper of a memory
I am the fear you might have lost your mind
I am the face you don't remember
But you have seen a thousand times
The ghost who is still alive
I struck a deal with the devil

This has to be one of my favourite songs you brought out lately. Goosebumps at 1:46 and love that piano solo. Sadly I haven't gotten around to reading the book but if it's as epic as this song I will have to start soon.

Now that is just stunning. Both visually and musically. A lot of work must have gone into that video. It is so different from anything that came before it. Each photo or video in it evokes emotion, mostly sad, sometimes lonely, one time sensual, and just really makes me wonder what her life was and what her existence has been like since. I really, really loved the song though. Again, it is very different from the usual, though definitely in line with what you have been putting up lately. Most songs I can tell from the music that it is yours even without the voice. There is just something about it that seems to have your signature somewhere in it. Not to say it all sounds the same or anything. It doesn't. I just know it is yours. This one is different though. I can only tell from the voice that it is yours. It breaks completely away from that signature sound and that might be the simplicity of the piano being so light and delicate through most of the piece and the crescendo of the other instruments being most decidedly not. But it just really, really works, and it grabs my attention from the get go and just keeps it as the song builds and the ending just holds me in place for several seconds. I think Please Take Me is the only other song and video that does that and also just makes me sit there at the end like that even if that video is much simpler. Anyway, I really love this song, Beth. You outdid yourself on this one. Top notch. Just gorgeous. Okay, I'll go get the mop now and clean up all this gushing.
