One of my favorite things about DD was that the character creation actually affected how you played. Heavier characters had more carry weight, taller characters could climb more easily, shorter characters could go into areas that taller characters couldn't, and lighter characters regenerated stamina more quickly. Even the sex could affect game play because we had monsters like ogres that changed behavior if there were women in your party.

I remember a while ago when Itsuno was given the choice to work on DMC 5 or Dragon's Dogma 2 and he chose DMC. It was disappointing, but now, I'm glad he waited a bit longer because we now get a more technology advanced game!
This also means a bigger (much bigger) budget however, so i also wonder how much Dogma 2 needs to sell to be successful in Capcom's eyes. I've preordered to do my part though, can't wait!

What I like about your videos describing DD is that you talk about the game not just as a good action combat experience, but as a potential of free, immersive gameplay with replayability and hopefully, without any player experiencing the same in every gameplay. That's always what I've seen under the lines and you describe it so well ! Thanks for giving so much love to the game. Awaiting impatiently for your next video.

I hope that they expand on the inclination system. It was very confusing and hard to grasp in the old game but a properly leveled, equipped and educated pawn with the right mix of inclinations could absolutely stomp on most of the enemies. The biggest trick was to not overload them with all abilities they can slot but rather give them a limited toolset that focuses on a certain aspect of combat (e.g. high knockdown power or alot of ranged cc or alot of movement). With all the knowledge I accumulated over the years (mastery is a big thing in DD1) I usually play everything solo semi-naked but I still enjoy using my main pawn for support and chatter :)

I remember hearing about DD2 when it was announced and thinking that looks cool. Then I was looking up new games in 2024 and saw this was a spring release. I then realized I never played the first and saw it on sale for $5 right before nye. I picked it up and haven’t been able to put it down. The game has flaws but is sooo fun to play

Dragon's Dogma Online had so many improvements to the original game, I hope those improvements are carried over to DD2, and even improved further. I loved how insanely competent your pawns were in that game. I felt so awkward knowing that whatever vocations I changed my pawns to, they would always play better than I did. They might not be as smart as a human, but they were almost flawless at using counters or defense abilities.
Was also nice to be able to customize all 3 of your pawns, but I can stomach not having that in return for getting a new game.
The DDON vocations were great too, all vocations were unique, but being an MMO, they had some functionality similarities (Tanks vs support, etc.). One of the things I'm glad to see is the splitting up of Strider, like they had in the MMO. I don't know how I feel about Thief though, the Seeker vocation from Dragon's Dogma Online was crazy fun because of their mobility, I hope some of that comes over to DD2. I haven't seen any crazy grappling hook moves in the gameplay vids yet though...
One thing I hope they carry over from the original is the ability to get that item that lets you change your character whenever you want from the main menu for free after NG+. The freedom of customization in DD:DA (Both character creation and vocation) was one of my favorite things about it. That, and the replayability. I put hundreds of hours on the PS3 release, and then when it came out on PC, I put another couple hundred hours in. I don't remember how many NG+'s I've beent through.

I'm glad that something is able to inspire this kind of excitement in you... Unfortunately, life has beaten it out of me. While I am certainly interested in what this game is when it finely releases, I am no more excited about it, or anticipating it, than I am loading up any one of the over 1000 games in my collection.
I do hope, however, that it is as good as you think it will be.
Which will be great for all of us.
