my husband passed away this same day Feb 4 2024 from a brutal aggressive illness that struck him at 59 and took his life in 3 months, we've loved each other 40 years since we met in 1984, and were married and living together 38 years
he was the father of our two daughters, a very young grandfather to our 3 grand-babies, my protector, my husband, my only true best friend, and the one and only love of my life
we didn't have much at all growing up, things were much worse for him, he lost his mom at 4, his dad wasn't a great person and off doing his thing
my husband learned quick to stand on his own and fend for himself, he was always the hardest working person i ever knew, the most responsible man i ever saw, always giving and giving, he gave his everything to me
at only 20 years old he began saving up and bought a brand new pontiac 39 years ago, he told me he bought it for us, for me and him, he came to get me and we really did leave that night yes i was even working as a cashier in a hardware store, and we just left and drove 400 miles away that very night
Tracey's song came out a couple years later, it truly felt as if she had written it about us, now listening to all these amazing songs from the 80s my heart totally bleeds and breaks for him and our 4-decade life together
and we never ever parted my husband and me, over four decades he drove me millions of miles he even drove me and our Girls all over france and uk on numerous roadtrips, and all over alberta quebec and ontario, and yes he used to put his long arms around me as he drove
he finished 2 degrees, had a 30 year career, in the last decade he managed a team of 10 in a large organization, his team loved him, he treated them with kindness and patience, now they're messaging me regularly how sad they are
he gave his everything taking care of those he was responsible for, he has always been and always will be the very best and most courgeous person i have EVER known
💔🙏

Crazy to me how "Fast Car" managed to stay relevant after all these years. It's a testament of how beautiful and poetic Tracy Chapman's songwriting and performances are. Seeing her perfomance at the grammys made me cry. This song will continue to reach new generations and audiences because that's just how timeless it is!

She’s holding back tears as the crowd roars. She’s a total gem. They got this right. ❤
