My dad contracted polio when he was 2 in 1947, at that time a health crisis was happening and all parents were worried their children could contract the virus, as my father developed a high fever, my grandmother took him to the hospital and the doctors quickly diagnosed him with polio and treated him with medications they had at the time, it was enough to stop the virus from spreading to others parts of the body, but the damage caused to his left leg was irreversible, the sequels of the viral infection in his peripheral nervous system of the left leg made that so his leg would not grow with the rest of his body, as he got older, he made a total of 8 surgeries in a painful procedure that broke his bones to extend the leg, each time he made the surgery he was plastered for half a year until his leg healed. He was never able to run, but he loved to play futbol as a goalkeeper and swim at his teens. He still needs to use a device that makes his left leg higher to walk because his right leg is 3 cm longer than the left, but he never complained about it and always talks about the importance of being vaccinated. Glory to the vaccines and health professionals!

My mother has allways been religiously anti-government, she says she isnt anti-vax, shes just anti-thisvax, (covid), but watching this, and scrupulously examining your sources, shes no longer anti-anyvax, thank you so much kurgesagt for your impartial and incredible video!

Years ago, little brother contracted measles from the vaccine when he got it. My mom told me that the doctor said it was a 1/1000000 chance for that to happen or something absurdly small like that. My brother is healthy today and it did not discourage my mother from giving us vaccines at all.
Can we thank all the momβs that vaccinated their children for their special day today!
Edit: Just asked my mom if it was a weaker version of measles that my brother had, she said it wasnβt! She has pictures and said that the CDC (center for disease control) has a case on him. She also told me that the doctor did not believe my mom at first and said it was the first time heβs seen something like that in his 40+ years of being a doctor.
Also thanks for wishing my mom a happy Motherβs Day! I wish all the same to your mothers.

I really don't understand the "vaccines cause autism" argument. Like, even if they did, would you rather your kid not be able to socialize as well, or die of measles at the age of 2? Like, I'm autistic, and I can function just fine.
